Singer/songwriter Rob Thomas to perform at The Pearl inside the Palms Casino Resort with special guests OneRepublic on Saturday, October 24, 2009, at 8:00 p.m.
Rob Thomas began his career as lead singer of popular rock band Matchbox Twenty resulting in multiple #1 hit singles including “3AM” and “Mad Season.” Reaching outside of his standard rock roots, Thomas collaborated with Latin rocker Santana resulting in the highly successful single “Smooth” which appeared on the album Supernatural. “Smooth” earned Thomas three Grammy Awards, including “Song of the Year,” hit number one on Billboard’s Top Hot 100 Rock Songs chart and number two on Billboard’s Hot 100 All-Time Top Songs. In 2004, the Songwriters Hall of Fame presented Thomas with the Starlight Award, given to young composers who have already made a lasting impression.
In 2005, Thomas debuted with his first solo album, Something to Be, which reached multiplatinum sales. The album featured multiple hit songs including “Lonely No More” which topped music charts at #1 in 15 countries. Thomas reunited with Matchbox Twenty in 2007, and released Exile on Mainstream. The now 37-year-old artist is continuing to work with Matchbox Twenty as well as on his solo career. He recently released his second solo album Cradlesong, which features the Billboard Hot 100 chart hit “Her Diamonds.”
OneRepublic joins Thomas on this stop showcasing their heartfelt pop/rock melodies. The group’s debut Dreaming Out Loud (2007) featured the hit single “Apologize” and continues to support the band as they tour throughout the world.
