There’s no better place to visit this Halloween season than Las Vegas, where spooky spectacles and frightening fantasies can be found around every corner. Ghosts and goblins will join the usual Las Vegas glitz and glam as The Strip comes alive with the scary sights and sounds of the season. Visitors will have an array of spooktacular events to enjoy including haunted houses, frightful adventures, bewitching parties and costume weddings.
There is plenty of naughty costumed revelry to partake in for the late night party set. Nightmare on 54th Street, the 11th annual Halloween celebration at Studio 54 inside MGM Grand, begins Tuesday, Oct. 28 and runs through Oct. 31. The nightly sexy soiree includes seductive torture maidens, strikingly hot death warriors and wickedly naughty nurses. The Studio 54 Sexy Spider Girls will entertain as they spin, swoop and swing on aerial webs and ghost bungees, while Snake Babe, a bewitching temptress, will walk amongst the crowd with her slithering serpent. Partiers decked out in the most daring and creative Halloween costumes may enter nightly contests with cash prizes totaling more than $10,000.
Halloween night, mischievous minxes can head over to “Mingle & Mayhem” at VooDoo Lounge. The annual Halloween bash boasts hip and haunting music for party-goers to groove to inside or on the outside patio located 51 floors above the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. With wicked views of The Strip, “Mingle & Mayhem” offers revelers the chance to compete for a $5,000 cash prize costume contest. Bacardi shot girls will mix and mingle with the crowd providing tastes of tantalizing libations.
More costumed fun abounds over at Harrah’s Carnaval Court where an outdoor “Superheroes and Villains” celebration will begin at noon on Oct. 30. The Strip-side, open air venue will be decked out in Halloween decor and Halloween-themed cocktails will be available at the bar. Costume contests will be held both on Oct. 30 and Oct. 31 with more than $10,000 in cash prizes up for grabs. Ladies can compete in the “Sexiest Costume” contest while both men and women can vie for first-place in the “Most Creative” category.
Just down the block, late night revelers can head over to the Imperial Palace to take their turn frightening the crowd by participating in “Scary-okee.” Beginning at 9 p.m. on Oct. 30 and Oct. 31, “Scary-okee” patrons may choose their tune from the “Wheel of Terror” featuring haunted hits such as “Monster Mash” and “Werewolves of London.”
Spooky KaBOOki is yet another option for those looking to get in the Halloween spirit. Offered at one of the newest hotspots on The Strip — SUSHISAMBA at The Palazzo — Spooky KaBOOki allows revelers to enjoy the concept of traditional Japanese Kabuki Theater while taking delight in the restaurant’s delicious menu. Additional frighteningly fun festivities include a killer costume contest while DJ Dracula spins “terror-ific” tunes.
A bone-chilling good time awaits those brave enough to enter the Fright Dome, the sinister alter ego of The Adventuredome at Circus Circus. Courageous thrill-seekers can tip-toe their way through three new haunted houses and all new Scare Zones. In addition to the 23 frightening rides and attractions, including haunting aerial stunts with “drop demons,” adrenaline junkies can take in an off-the-wall stunt show starring the hosts of Discovery Channel Canada’s “Guinea Pig.” Visitors can enjoy this terrifying adventure, which for the last two years was ranked as the fourth scariest haunted attraction in the country by AOL, now through the end of the month.
More spooky fun abounds at Haunted Harvest held at the Springs Preserve eight-acre botanical garden. Take a haunted hayride through glowing lights and fog as creepy characters from Theater Las Vegas provide performances from “The Ghosts of Shakespeare.” Haunted Harvest begins Oct. 16 and includes live music and “Safe Street” trick or treating.
For even more chills and thrills, enjoy a Mardis Gras-style Halloween when Cowboy Mouth, a New Orleans rock band, performs in the Canyon Club at the Four Queens Hotel on Oct. 31. Or, check out Jeff McBride as he mixes Halloween tricks with the mysticism of magic when he hosts the “Master of Masks” event at the late night magic club Wonderground inside Palace Station. McBride, who owns one of the world’s largest mask collections, will display his treasures for all to see.
While there are plenty of haunted festivities and frighteningly fun parties to attend, true thrill-seekers can opt to take that long, scary walk down the aisle and tie the knot Las Vegas-style. Get hitched this Halloween in your favorite costume at Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel. After the ceremony, head over to Madame Tussauds Wax Museum at The Venetian and visit their newest bloodcurdling exhibit or opt to recite your vows amongst your favorite wax celebrities.
