The Henderson Commemorative Beautification Commission (CBC) is accepting entries for the city of Henderson’s 2013 Outdoor Holiday Decorating Contest through December 2. The program is open to the first 50 entries received.
Printable entry forms are available at cityofhenderson.com. There is no cost to participate.
The annual program is open to any residential single-family home within the City of Henderson. Residents can choose from five categories: patriotic, children’s theme, best holiday theme, most innovative; Griswold, which includes homes decorated in the style of the film “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,” and street/neighborhood (minimum of three homes).
Members of the CBC will judge entries on December 9, and winners will be announced at 6 p.m. on Friday, December 13 at the Henderson Events Plaza, during the city’s annual WinterFest celebration.
“This program is one of the finest ways to demonstrate community pride and spirit during the holiday season,” said Mayor Andy Hafen. “I’m always amazed at the detail, care and attention that goes into each display, and I think it’s a wonderful way to share the holiday spirit with our neighbors.”
Once winners have been announced, the city will post a map online at cityofhenderson.com listing the location of all entries so residents can take self-guided tours of the route and view the displays on their own.
