Yeah Yeah Yeahs to Perform at The Pearl at The Palms

Artsy rock trio the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are set to perform at The Pearl Concert Theater inside Palms Casino Resort on Saturday, September 19, 2009, at 8:00 p.m.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs is comprised of singer Karen O, guitarist Nicolas Zinner and drummer Brian Chase.

Originally formed in 2000 as a folk duo called Unitard, singer Karen O and guitarist Nicolas Zinner headed in the direction of electronic music switching gears and replacing their drummer with Brian Chase to form the newly transformed Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

From the beginning, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs hit the road with powerhouse acts such as the Strokes and White Stripes building their fan base for their style of punk, rock and electronic grassroots style. In 2001, the group released their self-titled EP and followed up with a performance at South by Southwest.

In 2002, they released the EP Machine and soon signed with Interscope and released their major label debut Fever to Tell (2003). The album received acclaim from critics and fans alike and the single “Maps” gained popularity the following year and Fever to Tell hit gold status. Show Your Bones was released in 2006 and held the No. 11 spot on the Billboard 200. Another EP was released in 2007 Is Is featuring new recordings of songs written during the Yeah Yeah Yeahs hiatus between the band’s two previously released albums. In 2009, It’s Blitz! is the latest release featuring more electronic and dance beats than previous releases. The group recently performed at 2009’s Lollapalooza tour in Chicago.

This event is presented by Andrew Hewitt and Live Nation. The Pearl Box Office is open from noon – 7:00 p.m. daily. Doors will open at 7:00 p.m. and show time is 8:00 p.m. The Pearl is home to Miller Lite Live, sponsored by Citi; for more information on upcoming concerts, please call 702-942-6888.
