Las Vegas ladies will celebrate Strip headliner Olivia Newton-John and three outstanding businesswomen at “Tea, Thyme, Women & Wine,” the 2nd Annual Women’s Tea for Easter Seals Nevada, on Monday, August 18 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. at the Four Seasons Hotel Acacia Ballroom.
This annual tea shines light on the women in the community who exemplify the extraordinary through unwavering commitments to business, family and community. The event is open to the public and tickets are available through Give.EasterSealsNevada.org.
Recognizing female heroes in the Las Vegas community, The 2nd Annual Women’s Tea is adding a new honor for the 2014 event. Olivia Newton-John, four-time Grammy award-winning singer and Strip headliner in “Olivia Newton John – Summer Nights” at the Flamingo Las Vegas, will be the first recipient of Easter Seals Nevada’s “Four Star Award” for an outstanding commitment to community service and non-profit organizations throughout the world.
One of the world’s most beloved entertainers and philanthropists, Newton-John has sold more than100 million albums worldwide, been honored with numerous awards, topped the charts with ten No. 1 hits and starred in the classic musical films “Grease” with John Travolta and “Xanadu” with Gene Kelly. After nearly 10 years of fundraising, Olivia is thrilled that the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre (ONJCWC) opened in her hometown of Melbourne, Australia in 2012. A portion of every ticket sold to her Flamingo concerts will benefit the ONJCWC. Her Flamingo residency will run through January 2015.
Easter Seals Nevada also honors three remarkable ladies who have made a significant impact to the Las Vegas community and in the Easter Seals organization. The 2014 Women’s Tea “Tremendous Three” honorees include:
- Terri Peck, Director of Marketing & Entertainment, FOX 5 Las Vegas
- Christie Garness, Event Specialist, City of Las Vegas
- Tonia Chafetz, General Manager, Tivoli Village
“We are thrilled that the local community of women can come together to honor these amazing ladies at our 2nd Annual Women’s Tea,” said Nedya Becker, Board of Directors, Easter Seals Nevada. “It’s a great experience where we see women not only supporting their colleagues and friends, but also supporting everything that Easter Seals does to help disabled individuals and their families throughout our great state.”
Women are invited to don their best party dress and fascinator, break out the pearls and mix and mingle over afternoon tea and wine while supporting Easter Seals Nevada and their mission to help Nevadans of all ages, infants to seniors, with disabilities and other challenges. Upon entering attendees will be able to bid on extravagant silent auction items including entertainment packages, beauty baskets, spa certificates, fashion finds and much more. As ladies make their way into the grand ballroom, they will be treated to a full afternoon tea service featuring an assortment of delicious teas, fine wines, finger sandwiches, petit fours and other sweet treats.
Throughout the tea, one of the Valley’s favorite DJs, Steph Mackenzie of 97.1 The Point, will introduce the afternoon’s honorees and will be joined by long-time Easter Seals supporter and Las Vegas businessman Steve Schorr to host the live auction featuring an special Olivia Newton-John entertainment package, a puppy and an exclusive item from luxury fashion house Burberry.
