The Las Vegas Legends, Las Vegas’ only current major league sports team, came to play in their first season home opener game at the Orleans Arena that ended with a shootout leaving the Las Vegas Legends victorious 7-6 against Turlock Express on Sunday afternoon (Pictured: Goalie Zeke Sanchez (#1), makes an epic save, one of many throughout the night – Photo credit: Las Vegas Legends).
Playing in front of an enthusiastic crowd of fans, the Legends played in a battle of epic proportions with the stand out star being goalie Zeke Sanchez (#1) as he kept the Turlock Express from scoring, by blocking every shot on goal in the final shootout between the two teams.
In the first quarter, Turlock Express were the first to score with a goal by Jorge Carmona. The Legends momentum started to build at the start of the second quarter with a goal by Franck Tayou (#9).

The Legends smothering defense kept Turlock at bay and then added one more point to the scoreboard with a goal by making it 2-1 Legends going into the second half.
By the time the second half started, Turlock scored two more goals which the Las Vegas Legends quickly answered making the game 4-3 at the end of the third quarter.
The fourth quarter began with a goal by Ivan Campos (#24), making it his third goal of the game. The rest of the fourth quarter was back and forth scoring between the two teams leaving the score tied at 6-6 as the horn rang signaling the end of regulation.
The Las Vegas Legends went into overtime fighting for that victorious goal while goalie Zeke Sanchez (#1) made key saves keeping the score at 6-6. It was time for an overtime shootout, one player versus one goalie going head to head with only one winner emerging. Sanchez blocked each shot with epic strength as he kept Turlock from scoring. Boris Gujic from the Legends scored the final, winning goal in the shootout, giving the Las Vegas Legends the 7-6 victory.
Key standouts of the game included Zeke Sanchez with 15 saves, Ivan Campos with three goals and Boris Gujic (#17) with two goals. With 29 shots on goal and seven goals scored, the Las Vegas Legends endurance and hard work was seen and heard by their excited fans in the stands.
On Sunday, November 9 at 3 p.m., The Las Vegas Legends will take on Monterrey Flash in their next home game.
