Jerry’s Nugget kicks off their Local Legends Series of events with legendary sports celebrities with local ties. The first event is scheduled on Monday, November 17 with two former coaches that impacted the Las Vegas football community (Pictured: Jim Fassel).
Jim Fassel, former NFL New York Giants and Las Vegas Locos coach, and Harvey Hyde, former head coach of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Rebels will be appearing at the first Local Legends Series on Monday, November 17 from 4pm to 5pm at the Jerry’s Nugget Sports Book. Coach Fassel will also join Coach Hyde and Race and Sports Book Director, Mark Dufty from 5pm to 6pm for a live radio remote on KSHP AM 1400. Hear up close and personal stories of victory and perseverance from both coaches, ask questions directly, win authentic collectibles, and receive free autograph signings from Fassel and Hyde. The event is free for all guests 21 and over.
About Jim Fassel
Jim Fassel known as “The Coach” began his coaching career as assistant head coach at the University of Utah and Stanford University, working with John Elway at Stanford. Prior to becoming the New York Giants head coach, Jim served as head coach of Utah and as assistant coach with the Arizona Cardinals, Denver Broncos, New York Giants, and the Oakland Raiders. During his time as Giants head coach from 1997 to 2003, he was named NFL Coach of the Year, credited with the resurrection of the career of quarterback Kerry Collins and led the Giants to an improbable Super Bowl appearance in 2000. From 2009-2010, Jim was head coach of the Las Vegas Locos and led them to victory in the UFL Championship game for two consecutive seasons.
About Harvey Hyde
Harvey Hyde is currently a football analyst for 710 ESPN and talk show host for KSHP AM 1400 “Huddle Up and Buckle Up.” His coaching career included assistant football coach for the University of Hawaii from 1966 to 1967, head football coach for Pasadena City College from 1968 to 1981, and head football coach for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas from 1982 to 1985. In 1984, Harvey was named PCAA Coach of the Year for leading the UNLV Rebels to victory in the PCAA Conference Championship. Well-known NFL players like quarterback Randall Cunningham, running back Terrell Davis, defensive back Charles Dimmery, and running back Ickey Woods to name a few, were all coached by Harvey.
