Can a small group of charitable businessmen called Los Vaqueros Las Vegas orchestrate a back-to-school event that distributes 300 new shoes on a Saturday morning to elementary students in need? Yes they can — with the help of the Goodie Two Shoes Foundation which provides thousands of shoes and socks each year to disadvantaged children and children in crisis throughout the Las Vegas Valley.
Los Vaqueros Las Vegas and the Goodie Two Shoes Foundation will partner up on Saturday, September 12, 2009 from 9 – Noon to give out new school shoes to 300 Lowman Elementary School children, whom are in need of financial assistance. The event will also include activities for the parents and children, including health insurance information by Nevada Covering Kids and Families, sports and literacy games and a gang awareness presentation by Las Vegas Metro. Each child will get a personalized shoe fitting, 5 new pairs of socks, a toy, crayons and a backpack.
Both groups are dedicated to helping those in need in Las Vegas. Los Vaqueros Las Vegas consists of businessmen from diverse backgrounds whom are committed to helping at-risk youth and families of deployed military through various charitable programs throughout the year. Goodie Two Shoes is committed fully to providing disadvantaged children and children in crisis with new shoes and socks as well as other items deemed essential for good health and positive development.
The shared mission of these two nonprofit organizations to aid children in need has created a positive back-to-school event that will boost their confidence as they begin a new school year. Best of all – it will teach these children and their families that the community cares about their future.
