The fight takes place on September 19 at the Grand Garden Arena at the MGM Hotel.  Our thanks to Las Vegas photographer Erik Kabik for these photos and report.

De La Hoya took out his camera out and snapped pictures throughout the event to “capture the de-throning of the king (Floyd Mayweather)” as he addressed to the press. He also joked with Roger Mayweather saying that he was confused because he thought Floyd Mayweather Sr. was the greatest trainer of all time after Mayweather’s manager Leonard Ellerbe referred to Roger Mayweather as the greatest. Roger held up a box that said ‘Cow Pie’ and ‘Taxes Suck’ and he continued to show this to the press during the conference. As De La Hoya described why he believes Marquez will defeat Mayweather.  As he spoke, Mayweather flexed on his hand exercise grips.

HBO Sports executive Mark Taffet noted the swift ticket sales and talked about the Urban appeal of Mayweather and the Latin community appeal of Marquez making this fight a landmark event. He also noted to team Marquez “We are intrigued by your training regimen” (bringing a chuckle to the press core who assume this was a reference to Juan Marquez’s ingestion of his own Urine two times a day during training).

Juan Manuel Marquez trainer Ignacio Berenstain had nothing but praise for The Mayweather camp and he shook hands with Mayweather. Juan then spoke and had words of parise for Mayweather and his team and said what an honor it was to have this opportunity.

Roger Mayweather did not address the crowd directly.  Floyd spoke confidently about the fight and also had words of praise for his competitor and his team.

The conference ended with the two competitors doing the traditional post press conference stare down and then posed for the press together.  De La Hoya is seen in the background taking pictures.
