In an effort to support the health and wellness needs of area residents and families most impacted by current economic conditions, the YMCA of Southern Nevada is offering complimentary six-month memberships to the unemployed.
Unemployed individuals and their families can experience the YMCA’s award-winning aquatic, health and fitness, youth and family, and sporting activities through this special opportunity. Participants will also have access to such amenities as swimming pools, fitness centers, cycling studios, gymnasiums, racquetball and tennis courts, comfortable locker rooms, kids and baby gyms, computer learning centers and a 34-foot rock-climbing wall. Some restrictions may apply.
“At the YMCA we build strong kids, strong families and strong communities, and in today’s economic environment that means responding to needs in unprecedented ways,” said Mike Lubbe, President and CEO for the YMCA of Southern Nevada. “Unemployment situations breed high stress and we’re proud to offer no-cost opportunities for families to spend time together in a positive environment as they transition into new careers.”
This special membership, valued at up to $470, is made possible through the annual YMCA Strong Kids Campaign and gifts from generous donors. Those benefiting from the program can choose to show their appreciation by making a tax-deductible donation to the YMCA or lending a hand through volunteer opportunities; there is no obligation to participate.
