On Oct. 2, 2015 at 12:20 p.m., Stratosphere Hotel, Casino & Tower’s SkyJump Las Vegas commemorated its 200,000th jumper with a congratulatory celebration and grand prize giveaway (Pictured: Ruby J., the 200,000th SkyJumper).
Following her decent, Ruby J., the 200,000th jumper, was surprised on the landing pad by Stratosphere staff and welcomed with champagne, balloons, confetti and a grand prize package valued at $2,000. The package consists of a seven-day cruise to Mexico on Norwegian Cruise Lines, a three-night stay at Stratosphere, SkyJump merchandise and a “Take Vegas Back” package with cocktails and food at Level 107 Lounge and Radius°.
In anticipation of this momentous milestone, Stratosphere created a Facebook contest so followers could guess when the “200K Day” would take place. The contest winner will be announced on Stratosphere’s Facebook page and receive a seven-day cruise to Mexico on Norwegian Cruise Lines.
“We’re excited to have reached the 200K Day SkyJump landmark so quickly,” said Tim Kuykendall, Vice President of Hotel Operations at Stratosphere Hotel, Casino & Tower. “It reminds us how popular and enjoyed the attraction is, proving that it is a thrill unlike anything else in Las Vegas or North America, for that matter.”
Opened in 2010, SkyJump Las Vegas, a Guinness World Record holder, is a controlled 855-foot drop from the top of the iconic Stratosphere Tower. Riders of SkyJump Las Vegas are suited up in a special jumpsuit and connected to a high-speed “descender” machine. Under the supervision of trained SkyJump personnel, the jumper is escorted to the edge of a small platform where they step out and descend the full 108-story height of the Stratosphere Tower in approximately 17 seconds. Prior to reaching the ground, the “descender” machine slows the jumper down, bringing the jumper to a controlled and safe landing.
SkyJump Las Vegas Hours: Sunday to Thursday, 10 a.m. – 1 a.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. – 2 a.m.
SkyJump Las Vegas Packages: $109.99 per jump; $119.99 for jump and photo package; and $139.99 for jump and wristcam video package. Nevada locals and Take Vegas Back members receive a $20 discount. For additional information about SkyJump Las Vegas, please visit stratospherehotel.com
