Grammy Award-winning Swedish metal band Ghost will haunt Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas at The Linq Promenade on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 8 p.m.
Ghost, one of the most recognizable acts in metal today, is known for its eccentric on-stage presence and collective persona. The uniformity of the band’s five backing musicians – known only as Nameless Ghouls – is contrasted by lead vocalist Papa Emeritus, who consistently portrays the same archetype, though personality and appearance vary slightly. Ghost’s musical style is often compared to early Black Sabbath and Judas Priest with psychedelic rock influences.
Anonymity is at the center of the enigmatic group that formed in 2008 with Papa Emeritus I, who would lead the group until 2012. Papa Emeritus II would front the quintet until 2015. Prior to the Aug. 21, 2015 release of their third studio album, “Meloria,” it was announced that Papa Emeritus II was “fired” and Papa Emeritus III, his younger brother, would succeed him. It is believed that all versions of Papa Emeritus are actually portrayed by the same vocalist. Similarly, the Nameless Ghouls each represent themselves to the public by stamping their alchemic symbol for fans: Alpha (lead guitar), Water (bass), Wind (keyboards), Earth (drums) and Omega (rhythm guitar). Papa Emeritus simply signs “P.E.”
Ghost has released three full-length albums, including “Meloria.” That album’s single “Circle” earned the band the 2016 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance.
