Halloween may be over, but dressing up in costume never goes out of style – especially when it is for a good cause. HalloweenMart has partnered with Special Olympics to host the Polar Plunge costume contest in an effort to raise money for Special Olympics Nevada. The Polar Plunge will take place on Saturday, November 21, where hundreds of pledges will take the icy plunge – in costume – into the cold waters of Lake Las Vegas to benefit the organization.
To prepare for the challenge, plungers can create a custom pledge page for family and friends to make donations. Prizes will be awarded to the highest fundraisers and participants with the wackiest costumes. Those intimidated by the 45-degree water can opt out of the Polar Plunge and still help the cause by joining the Chicken Coop team.
“We are really excited to be working with such a great organization,” said Heather Siegel, vice president of HalloweenMart. “The Special Olympics’ Polar Plunge is a fun way to encourage people to get out of the house, dress up in costume, and support a great cause.”
For the widest selection of costumes in the valley, Polar Plunge participants can visit HalloweenMart, or shop online at HalloweenMart.com, to find a costume that is sure to make a splash. HalloweenMart is located at 6230 S Decatur Boulevard, just south of Russell Road. Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information please call 702.740.4224.
