Celebrated as one of Vegas’ most exciting and anticipated community events, “Run Away with Cirque du Soleil” will return to the Las Vegas Springs Preserve on March 11, 2017 for its 16th annual 5K run and 1-mile fun walk, bringing the community together for an unforgettable day inside the park. Pre-registration is now open at Active.com (Pictured: Mayor Carolyn Goodman kicks off last year’s race).
Wrapped in the magic of Cirque du Soleil, the event will be interactive and immersive as performers in costume take over the venue. Participants will have the rare opportunity to take photos with their favorite artists while also enjoying live music, complimentary refreshments from Starbucks and Whole Foods, a circus play area and more. This year, guests will also be encouraged to “show off their Cirque spirit,” with a special prize rewarded to those who wear the best Cirque du Soleil-inspired costumes.
In honor of the Springs Preserve’s 10th birthday, there will also be a special performance by students from the Arts Nomades program, a unique learning arts initiative created by Cirque du Soleil to enhance students’ creative capabilities. Students from the pilot program will also display works they created throughout the year. All proceeds generated from the event will benefit the Cirque du Soleil and Springs Preserves Foundations, with the Cirque portion supporting Arts Nomades.
On-site registration will open at 7 a.m. followed by pre-race activities and warm-ups beginning at 8 a.m. The race will start promptly at 8:30 a.m. followed by live music and a special awards ceremony at 10:30 a.m. For the 5K run, early bird registration fees are $27 for children ages 3 – 12 and $37 for adults, with early bird fees for the 1-mile fun walk at $17 for children and $27 for adults. After March 1, the prices will all increase by three dollars. For more information and to register prior to the event, click here.
