With science and technology becoming a necessary component of our daily lives and careers, the next generation of schoolchildren will be able to explore and enjoy a fun day of learning at CSN’s upcoming Science & Technology Expo.
Held on the community college’s North Las Vegas campus each year, the expo partners CSN, the CSN Foundation and the Clark County School District (CCSD). This year’s expo will be held April 28.
The expo promotes science, technology, engineering and mathematics or STEM programs that help prepare students for careers in these exciting and complicated fields. CSN and many community partners from the industry and academia offer this opportunity to spark students’ interest in scientific and technological professions. These children are part of the generation that could make astonishing discoveries about space and medicine, and will be expected to transform today’s dreams into tomorrow’s technological realities.
More than 2,500 students are expected to attend the free educational expo. Community members are also welcome.
“Passing along our excitement about the STEM fields is one of the most important thing we can do as educators,” said Dr. Michael Spangler, dean of CSN’s School of Advanced & Applied Technologies. “These fields offer high-demand, high-wage careers that are vital to Nevada’s economic well-being and our nation’s future.”
Exhibits and demonstrations include:
- Drone flying exhibit
- Web design demo
- Apprenticeship exhibits
- Chemistry magic show
- Planetarium shows
- Creepy crawlers
- Gross, cool dead stuff and much more!
The Science and Technology Expo, sponsored by the CSN Foundation, will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 28 and is free to attend. For more information please call 702-651-4959.
