The Lique and The Young Artists Orchestra of Las Vegas Collaborate in Season Opener at Windmill Library Performing Arts Center Sept. 29
Music Director Yunior Lopez opens the 2018/19 concert season with a second collaboration with the popular jazz/funk/hip-hop band, The Lique. The 2017 collaboration was a big hit with local fans who witnessed a unique adventure that blended classical instruments with a variety of popular musical styles.
The Lique (pronounced “Leak”) is the multi-genre musical quintet with a stage presence that delivers storytelling, fan interaction, and choreographed routines; all served with a suit and tie. The band has been featured on the cover of Las Vegas Weekly, and has been voted Best Band on multiple platforms including Vegas Seven. In contrast, the Dr. Shirley Linzy Young Artists Orchestra of Las Vegas (also known as The Las Vegas Young Artists Orchestra) is the only tuition-free & professional training youth orchestra in the State of Nevada. The orchestra program is home to the most talented young musicians in Las Vegas and regularly feature nationally and internationally renowned guest artists.
The orchestra’s Founder & Music Director, Yunior Lopez, has described The Lique as “one of the most eclectic and creative groups across North America. Today, many groups have similar styles and sounds, but when it comes to The Lique, I truly believe they have created their own unique voice in such a crowded space.” This collaboration bridges the gap between classical music and a variety of popular styles, the Young Artists Orchestra has once again teamed up with one of Las Vegas’ hottest bands in a rare and unique presentation.
Lopez and The Lique will launch the YAO’s 2018/19 season with this unique collaboration on Saturday, September 29, at 7:00 p.m. in the Windmill Library’s Performing Arts Center. The program will feature songs from The Lique’s latest album (Times Like These). The symphony orchestra will be comprised of young professionals and students from the Young Artists Orchestra Symphony and Academy.
The Lique with the YAO Symphony & Academy will perform on Saturday, September 29 at 7:00 p.m. in the Windmill Library Performing Arts Center.
