Community Charities Unite to Allow Homeless to Phone Home for Holidays

For the second year in a row, Family Promise of Las Vegas is joining with the Lutheran Social Services of Nevada, the LVMPD Homeless Liaison Program, Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada, and Thrivent Financial Services for their “Phone Home for the Holidays Program”, taking place on Saturday, December 12th from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm at the Catholic Charities St. Vincent Lied Dining Facility, located at 1501 N. Las Vegas Boulevard.

The purpose of the program is to assist in reconnecting homeless people to loved ones during the holiday season by providing access to free phone services. Last year, hundreds were able to “reach out and touch someone” as a result. In addition, representatives of the various charities will be on hand to offer connections to the various resources that each has to offer.

There will also be a limited distribution of holiday gift bags and toys at the event, and refreshments will be served.
