The Improv at Harrah’s Selects Semi-Finalists for Next Funniest Person in U.S.

The top five finalists have been selected in the search for the next funniest person in the country, a contest hosted by Budd Friedman and Mark Lonow’s Improv at Harrah’s Las Vegas in conjunction with Universal Studio’s Funny People. This contest offers one aspiring comic the opportunity of a lifetime as he or she will perform on stage at the Improv at Harrah’s Las Vegas over a six-night run in 2010, and it is now up to the public to vote for the three finalists.

“First, a big thank you to the folks at Universal Pictures and Harrah’s Las Vegas for allowing iJoke to join them in celebrating the DVD release for Adam’s Sandler’s terrific movie Funny People,” said Improv founder, Budd Friedman. “And, a heartfelt thank you to all you iJokesters who uploaded videos to our site. Picking a final five was the toughest decision I’ve been a part of since having to decide whether to charge a one, two or three drink minimum – but we feel we selected some very funny people indeed.”

The videos for the five semi-finalists are now posted to ijoke.com where the public will determine the winner. Visit ijoke.com to vote for your favorite comic (one vote per person, per computer please). The voting period ends on December 20, 2009 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time). Once the votes have been tallied, the three finalists will contacted and flown to Las Vegas the week of January 26 where they will perform their material on stage at the Improv at Harrah’s in front of a live audience – and a panel of judges that includes Budd Friedman – to determine the winner. The top prize is the chance to perform over a six-night paid run on stage at The Improv at Harrah’s Las Vegas in 2010. Visit www.ijoke.com for official rules.
