Pageant Co-Directors, Marissa Castillo and Sadda Shaker, hosted a life skills class for a group of 16 residents of HELP of Southern Nevada’s Shannon West Homeless Youth Center on Monday, June 25.

The class touched on self-confidence, a trait that the co-directors instill in all their pageant contestants. A leading YouTube star, Castillo also provided make-up tips and gifts for the residents during the class.

The newly established United States of America’s Miss Nevada Pageant is being held July 27 – 29 at Conference Center of Las Vegas. The pageant is still seeking contestants and more information can be found at usoamissnevada.com.

HELP of Southern Nevada’s Shannon West Homeless Youth Center (SWHYC) is a residential facility for youth age 16 to 24 that provides services for at-risk youth that are homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless. SWHYC teaches residents tools to overcome barriers in order to become self-sufficient and avoid adult homelessness. This includes intensive case management and support to further residents’ education, employment and life skills.

The first-ever United States of Miss America’s Miss Nevada’s Pageant competition is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas from July 27-29 at Conference Center of Las Vegas.
