Henderson celebrates Halloween with the Zombie Run 5K at 6 p.m. on Oct. 20 at Cornerstone Park, 1600 Wigwam Pkwy.
This is the fifth year the City of Henderson has hosted the non-competitive fun run that is open to people of all abilities and fitness levels. The event features a course that takes participants around the lake at Cornerstone Park. Runners and walkers are encouraged to dress up in Halloween costumes or as a member of the undead. And they should be prepared to avoid the hungry zombies along the 3.1-mile route.
The run is open to participants 5 years and up.
Those interested in participating in this year’s Zombie Run 5K may register online or in person at one of the city’s recreation centers using activity code 154221-58. They can also sign up at Active.com.
Run packets may be picked up between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Oct. 18 at Orangetheory Fitness, 691 Marks St., Henderson, or from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. the day of the event at the park. The first 300 registered participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt.
Per-person registration costs are $25 now through Sept. 20, $35 from Sept. 21-Oct. 19, and $40 the day of the run (cash only).
If you’d prefer to participate as a volunteer and dress up like a hungry zombie, call 702-267-5705.
The Zombie Run 5K is part of the City of Henderson’s Healthy Henderson initiative. The fitness, health and wellness program rewards members who participate in fitness-related classes, workshops and events such as the city’s 5K runs, or work out at city recreation centers. Customized membership packages are available for purchase at any of the city’s six recreation centers and Heritage Park Senior Facility.
