On Friday, August 16, Downtown Las Vegas Events Center will turn up the heat with a legendary tour stop featuring co-headliners Young The Giant (pictured) and Fitz and the Tantrums. The night of music also will include a special performance by indie alternative songstress Alice Merton.
American rock band Young The Giant has achieved continual success in the music industry with top-charting hits like “It’s About Time,” “Superposition,” and “Cough Syrup.” The Los Angeles quintet broke out in 2010 with their self-titled debut album Young The Giant, followed by their 2014 album Mind Over Matter that was deemed a commercial success. The group has also been featured on Late Show with Seth Meyers, Jimmy Kimmel Live and Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Young the Giant’s latest hit anthem “Superposition” from their fourth album MIRROR MASTER hit the No. 1 spot on the Alternative radio charts.
Known for their indie pop and neo-soul sound, Fitz and the Tantrums released their debut album, Pickin’ Up the Pieces, in 2010. The Los Angeles-based group’s second album, More Than Just a Dream, released in 2013 and included popular songs “The Walker” and “Out Of My League.” Both tunes reached platinum and No. 1 on Billboard’s alternative chart. In 2016, their self-titled album gained national attention with the track “HandClap,” which rose to RIAA-certified 2x platinum.
Joining in on the summer music night is indie alternative singer and songwriter Alice Merton, whose debut single “No Roots” went No. 1 in alternative radio charts in the United States and France. Merton recently released her debut album “Mint” in January of 2019, with an 11-song track list. The artist has also received the Echo Award and EBBA award.
