Friday morning, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada (BGCSNV) celebrated its newly refurbished indoor and outdoor space at the James Clubhouse with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
In 2018, BGCSNV received a $50,000 grant from Lowe’s Renovation Across The Nation to do some much needed restoration to the James Clubhouse in North Las Vegas. After several months, the project was completed and the new space was unveiled to the Club members, Lowe’s staff and vendors who assisted with the project.
For many years, the outdoor space at the James Clubhouse had been underutilized because it was too dangerous for activities. The playground was deemed unsafe and therefore not used to its full potential. With this grant, a major overhaul took place on the exterior and interior after many years of disrepair.
The renovation included a new air conditioning unit and flooring, the extermination of a pigeon problem, the addition there are two new soccer/football fields, a fruit and vegetable garden, mini putting green installed by ForeverLawn, and basketball nets and safety padding in the gymnasium. These much-needed repairs and enhancements to the Clubhouse will not only boost Club membership and member participation, it also gives kids in the neighborhood a fun, safe place to call their own.
This grant is part of Renovation Across the Nation, a program between Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Lowe’s that provides one Club in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. with a grant and volunteer support from Lowe’s to complete much-needed improvements and renovations.
