Vampire Diaries Cast Celebrates Nina Dobrev’s 21st Birthday at Studio 54

On Saturday night, Nina Dobrev, the leading starlet on The CW’s hit show The Vampire Diaries, gathered with her closest friends and cast mates at the legendary Studio 54 in Las Vegas to celebrate her 21st birthday (Photo: © Erik Kabik/ RETNA/ www.erikkabik.com).

Nina initiated her first trip to Sin City with a walk on the red carpet in a navy blue and black bandage dress from French Connection, showcasing her phenomenal long legs.

Joining in on the festivities were The Vampire Diaries co-stars Kayla Ewell, Zach Roerig, Sara Canning, Katerina Graham, Candice Accola and Steven R. McQueen. The entire ensemble walked the red carpet with the exception of Nina’s two leading men, Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder. The dashing heartthrobs attended the event under the radar, both donning hats and avoiding the flashing cameras. They joined the group inside for twenty minutes before heading to the blackjack tables on the casino floor with series newcomer Matt Davis.

On the carpet, Nina shared what an amazing year it has been with the outpouring excitement for The Vampire Diaries debut season. “It’s been a crazy ride this past year. I remember a year ago on the 9th of January, my birthday, and I was 20 in Venice Beach surfing, and this year I’m on this great show; I have all these great friends; and I’m in Vegas! It’s insane to think of what a journey it’s been in one year. I’m really lucky!”

With the show’s highly anticipated return from hiatus this week, the actress shared some details on what’s to come for her character, Elena. “The end of this next episode is going to be extremely shocking, and it’s going to take everyone by surprise,” she said.

Fellow stars of The CW programs, Matt Lanter (90210), Sara Paxton (The Beautiful Life), Nico Tortorella (The Beautiful Life), and Benjamin Hollingsworth (The Beautiful Life) were also present for the celebration. When real-life couple Paxton and Tortorella walked the carpet together, the group of friends began to serenade the young lovers with Chapel of Love.

Inside, the group was the life of the party, even leaving their exclusive VIP area to dance on the main dance floor downstairs. The highlight of the evening was when Nina was surprised with a gorgeous three-tier birthday cake. Her friends completely surrounded her and sang Happy Birthday as the young beauty stood in amazement with tears in her eyes. After offering kisses on the cheek to all of her nearest and dearest, she looked back at her candles and pondered what to wish for. Friend and cast member Sara Canning jokingly suggested she wish for a boyfriend, and on that note, Nina immediately blew out all of the candles, causing the entourage to erupt in cheers. The group danced into the early hours of the evening, with Nina thanking the entire staff, saying it was the best birthday she could have ever had.
