U.S.VETS – Las Vegas to Host 4th of July BBQ for the Homeless Community
U.S.VETS – Las Vegas
will celebrate America’s birthday by serving homeless and less fortunate men, women and children in the community on July 4th from 10 a.m. -1 p.m. at U.S.VETS’ main location, 525 East Bonanza Road.  In addition to great food and fun, guests will enjoy live entertainment.

Raising Cane’s is continuing its commitment to active community involvement by partnering with U.S. VETS – Las Vegas.  On June 26, the Louisiana-based company known for its ONE LOVE – quality chicken finger meals – presented a $5,000 check to U.S. VETS, a Las Vegas nonprofit geared to helping homeless and at-risk veterans. In addition to the donation, Raising Cane’s is sponsoring U.S. VETS 4th of July Celebration in Las Vegas. This free event is open to the public and will feature games, food, entertainment, and more.

At U.S.VETS, hundreds of veterans are served each night in transitional and permanent housing.  While in U.S.VETS’ programs, they are learning life skills, reuniting with family, getting jobs, and rebuilding their lives.  In an effort to connect more homeless veterans to U.S.VETS’ services, a community outreach picnic is being hosted in honor of the 4th of July. “We hope that by opening our doors to the homeless on the 4th, we will also spread the word of our services.  We expect homeless veterans to be in the crowd, and we want to connect them to our services on this important holiday,” said Shalimar Cabrera, Executive Director of U.S.VETS – Las Vegas.

“U.S.VETS is an organization that focuses on serving those who have served in our community,” said Regional Leader of Restaurants Jason Zwerin. “At Raising Cane’s, we are actively involved in serving our community and supporting our local heroes. We are honored to have this opportunity; it’s a synergistic fit for us to support such a wonderful organization.”

U.S.VETS – Las Vegas opened in 2001 and operates two residential facilities and a community support office. The Las Vegas location operates over 330 beds of transitional and permanent housing. Employment services are provided through a workforce program that helps over 110 veterans return to employment each year. Additionally, over 400 veteran households are provided rapid re-housing and homeless prevention services annually.

“Partnerships like the one we have with Raising Cane’s will help veterans in our program receive vital services such as housing, mental health treatment and employment assistance,” said Shalimar Cabrera, Executive Director of U.S.VETS – Las Vegas. “We are very grateful to be the recipient of this donation and look forward to our annual 4th of July celebration.”

The mission of United States Veterans Initiative (U.S.VETS) is the successful transition of military veterans and their families through the provision of housing, counseling, career development, and comprehensive support. Founded in 1992, U.S.VETS is the largest non-profit organization of its kind in the United States, providing an array of support services to at-risk veterans across five states and the District of Columbia, including the Las Vegas operating site established in 2001
