A unique fashion experience has launched that will put the spotlight on women and diverse fashion designers. Coveted Collections is a series of pop-up marketplace experiences that allows multicultural brands to connect with the Las Vegas fashion and style community – tourists and residents alike (Pictured: Alisha with Influencers).
Founded by fashion veteran Alisha Alexander, she desired to be a resource to the fashion community with her extensive knowledge and expertise in luxury retail and merchandising. Having honed her skills with top designers such as Zac Posen, Rachel Roy and Tim Coppens. Alexander understood both sides of retail and its evolution from a designer and consumer standpoint. As consumers shop and find their latest style needs online as opposed to going in-store, retailers are forced to close stores due to less foot traffic and the influx of smaller online retail brands and boutiques. For multicultural designers these challenges are greater as they seek to break through the saturated online market of big and small designers and retailers. Alexander solves both of these challenges through Coveted Collections by creating an in-store experience for designers to sell their one-of-a-kind collections and for today’s consumers to experience immersive activations and events inside a curated showroom.
“After seeing firsthand the challenge that designers of color and women designers encountered while trying to break into retail, I became passionate about providing them with a solution that offered them increased visibility and revenue to sustain a legacy,” says Founder Alexander. “In offering this curated shopping experience, Coveted becomes a platform creating valuable ROI for designers in the form of consumer acquisition and an amplified social media presence.”
After relocating to Las Vegas in 2017, Alisha quickly learned that her new home was becoming a destination for shopping and not solely gambling. Leveraging this information and her passion to be an ally to multicultural designers, Coveted Collections officially launched in August 2019 with its inaugural event in Las Vegas. Inviting 10 designers from across the country to showcase their collections to the local community through a VIP fashion show and pop-up experience, brands such as LFLS Shoes in Los Angeles and New Orleans-based L’Jai Amor were able to connect with more than 300 consumers over two days. Consumers shopped collections while being able to make their own cocktail using a Frosé blender/spin bike and receive on the spot beauty services.
“I’m constantly looking to introduce my brand to new markets and customers. Coveted provided an opportunity to engage with the Las Vegas community that may otherwise never occurred,” says Eric James, founder of Los Angeles-based luxury shoe brand LFLS Shoes. “In our industry we are limited to a few trade shows and events to connect with industry peers and customers and this event provided the perfect backdrop.”
Coveted will reinforce its mission through a consistent schedule of experiences with the next event occurring just in time for the upcoming holiday season.
