Children’s Heart Foundation Takes Birthdays to Kids During COVID-19 Pandemic

Children’s Heart Foundation takes birthdays on the road to celebrate heart kids born in April.  With the recent health concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, Children’s Heart Foundation, along with local Vegas entertainers and hometown businesses, are set to visit heart kids throughout the month to celebrate birthdays, with all social distancing and health guidelines firmly in place.

During this difficult time, Children’s Heart Foundation wants to connect to some of the children they serve and let them know we are thinking of them on their birthday.  Kids should be able to celebrate their birthday, but unfortunately, the shelter in place has taken this opportunity away.

“We at Children’s Heart Foundation want to spread joy and happiness by offering a birthday drop off surprise for some of our heart kiddos, who are celebrating a birthday during this time,” says Melissa Cipriano, Executive Director.  “A lot of these heart families are hard hit during this time and we wanted to make sure our warriors are not forgotten on their important day.”

Children’s Heart Foundation is teaming up with Mark Messina from Linchpin Marketing and several local entertainers to bring birthday surprises to some of our littlest Heart Warriors.  During the month of April, Children’s Heart Foundation will deliver a birthday package curbside, complete with a treat from Freed’s Bakery, Balloon Bouquet from Vegas Balloon and a gift from Children’s Heart Foundation’s Maggie’s Garden.

What’s more, several local entertainers will be on hand to send a special virtual birthday message to the birthday boy or girl.  Local entertainers include Travis Cloer of “Jersey Boys” fame, Carnell Johnson aka “Vegas Golden Pipes,” Daniel Emmet of “America’s Got Talent,” Brandon Nix formerly of “Rock of Ages,” Michael Shapiro of Reckless in Vegas, Frankie Scinta and Janien Valentine of the Scintas, Sandy Knights and Kelly Vohnn of “Vegas Gone Country,” Cocktail Cabaret’s Maren Wade, The Bronx Wanderers’ Vin A., Jackie Wiatrowski and Sarah Hester Ross.

Founded in 2001, the Children’s Heart Foundation is committed to making a difference in the lives of children with heart conditions through empowering families through emotional, educational and financial support leading to a higher quality of life.

Children’s Heart Foundation has for main goals: to lend support to families as they deal with the emotional and financial toll exacted by a child’s heart condition, to provide a medically-supervised camp experience for children with heart conditions, to educate healthcare professionals and the general public on pediatric cardiology issues; and to support research in the area of pediatric cardiology.

Research, education and family assistance are at the heart of Children’s Heart Foundation’s mission.  In the United States, CHD is 60 times more prevalent than childhood cancer, and nearly twice as many children die each year as die from all forms of childhood cancers combined.

Research, still grossly underfunded in the field of pediatric cardiology, is the greatest hope for children living with a CHD a chance to live long, healthy lives due to medical and surgical advances and expert care. It is the hope this annual event continues to improve the level of care provided to those impacted by CHD.
