Titan Brands Hospitality Group kicked off the “Nobody Goes Hungry” campaign with its partner Sysco Foods today. Titan assembled 130 grocery and essential packages for its employees that were laid off as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This is going to be a long road to recovery and nobody really knows how this is going to shake out” said Scott Allen Frost, President of Titan Brands. The packages were assembled and delivered by company volunteers from their Hussong’s Cantina Boca Park location.
The service industry’s Unemployment benefits have been delayed getting to people. Food stamps aren’t either. The PPP loans will take time to reach businesses. Meanwhile the government will keep places shut down or limited on service well past April. The system is simply overwhelmed.
Titan Brands has started this campaign by offering assistance to its employees but is looking to expand the Nobody Goes Hungry campaign to the entire industry in Las Vegas.
“We have had some positive conversations over the last few days with representatives from agencies that have already formed food pantries for other populations like school kids, elderly shut-ins and our homeless population. Hopefully we will have a solution aimed at the service industry where families in need can demonstrate that they worked for a restaurant/bar at the time of the Covid crisis and pick up a food/essentials care package at designated sites or have it delivered by volunteers” added Frost.
