Our guide to Las Vegas on New Year’s Eve will help you to plan the ultimate girls trip.

Where to stay

There’s no shortage of accommodation options in Las Vegas. Take your pick from any of the Strip hotels, although if you are looking for something special for your girls getaway, we recommend one of the following.

  • Wynn

If it’s luxury you are looking for, this hotel will deliver. The Encore at the Wynn is a 5-star resort right in the heart of the Strip. Book a suite for the true VIP experience.

  • The Venetian

Another 5-star option that is centrally located, the Venetian offers aesthetically pleasing suites that are perfect for getting ready with the girls. Soak in all of the Italian goodness as you get ready to ring in the New Year.

  • Bellagio

The Bellagio is hard to beat if you want to go all out. With marble ensuites, an on-site day spa, and the famous fountain show, this hotel is all about luxury. It will certainly help to make your New Year’s Eve unforgettable!

All of these hotels are in a good position so that you can easily navigate the Strip and get home without too much hassle. It’s important to book accommodation early as New Year’s Eve is a popular time to visit Las Vegas and suites get booked out early.

What to do during the day

Make the most of your New Year’s girls’ trip by exploring Sin City during the day.

Here are some suggestions if you are looking for ideas:

  • Watch the Bellagio fountain show
  • Visit the iconic Las Vegas sign
  • Ride the rollercoaster at New York-New York
  • Be transported to Italy by taking a ride on a gondola at The Venetian
  • Head to Circus Circus for a free circus show
  • Ride on the flying fox at Fremont Street
  • Hit up the shops at Miracle Mile, Planet Hollywood
  • Go up the Eiffel Tower at the Paris Hotel
  • Visit a buffet for lunch so you will have enough sustenance for the night
  • Take in the views from the Stratosphere

If you collect some finds at the shops or just find yourself exploring the city longer than expected, check it into a Vegas luggage storage facility. That way, you won’t waste time heading back to your hotel so you can be free to enjoy the Strip.

How to ring in the New Year

Now let’s turn our attention to what you’ve all been waiting for – the what, where, and when of New Year’s Eve celebrations in Las Vegas.

The temperatures can be quite chilly during the winter, but that doesn’t stop people from flocking to the Strip to see the beginning of a new year. From about 6:00pm, the Strip gets closed to traffic. This means that the whole main stretch from the Stratosphere to Mandalay Bay becomes one huge pedestrian mall. Picture colorful hats, New Year’s Eve novelty glasses and party whistles as tens of thousands of people fill the area.

Adventuring up and down the Strip is a perfectly good way to bring in the New Year if you can handle the cold. You’ll be right in the action and able to enjoy the fireworks among hordes of merry people. That being said, you need to make a decision early on because there are a few things to keep in mind.

Firstly, most of the Strip’s hotels close their doors between 11:00pm and 1:00am. This means that if you suddenly get too cold or need to go to the bathroom, you’ll be in a bit of trouble.

Secondly, some parties and events–even some bars–will fill up quickly. Additionally, some venues require tickets to be purchased before the night itself. While there is always a party to be found in Vegas, it may be difficult to have a last-minute change of mind. It is best to plan your night beforehand so you can ensure that you get into whatever event you choose.

If you already know that you’d like to celebrate indoors, here are some options to choose from:

  • The Stratosphere

Looking for the ultimate place to watch the New Year’s Eve fireworks? Book a package at the Stratosphere. Its tower offers panoramic views of the city which means you will be able to enjoy all of the fireworks displays. They offer gourmet dining, cocktail packages, and even a party in the sky! Just make sure you get in early as their packages will sell out.

  • High Roller at the LINQ

Want a unique New Year’s Eve experience for you and the girls? Consider taking a ride on the High Roller at the LINQ. The High Roller is the world’s largest observation wheel and will take you to a height of 550 feet, directly over the Strip. New Year’s Eve packages will have you on the wheel at midnight, giving you an incredible view of the midnight fireworks. It also includes a champagne toast!

  • Night club

All of the big Vegas nightclubs host New Year’s Eve parties so you can take your pick. Tao, XS, Drai’s, Marquee, and JEWEL are all popular clubs that will be guaranteed to provide a night full of entertainment and dancing.

  • Fremont Street

The Fremont Street party is in downtown Las Vegas rather than the strip and it isn’t exactly indoors, but it deserves a special mention. Five blocks are closed to traffic to create one huge street party! New Year’s celebrations have been occurring here for years and it only continues to grow in popularity. Buy your tickets early if you want to join the party.

A New Years’ girls’ trip to Las Vegas is sure to be nothing short of epic. Remember to book early as it is a busy time for the city.
