Helping Hands of Vegas Valley (HHOVV) in partnership with Wicked Donuts is holding a virtual community bake off to raise funds and celebrate the nonprofit’s 20 years serving the community. The competition is open to home bakers of all ages (adults, teens, 12 and under) making a decorative cake with a theme celebrating the nonprofit’s 20th Anniversary. Contestants will “bake” online through Zoom. Wicked Donuts will turn the winner’s recipe into a donut and sell it at its drive-thru located at 9490 W. Lake Mead Blvd.  

Entry forms and details are available online at Participants may enter more than once and fill out a new form each time. Entry fees are $10 and must be received by Oct. 4, 2020.

Baked entries in a non-returnable container will be dropped off at designated location on Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 19 and 20 with judging taking place each day. The lead judge will be Executive Pastry Chef Robert Teddy owner of the new Wicked Donuts. Entries will be judged on taste, appearance, and creativity. After judging unused portions of baked goods will be given to Las Vegas Rescue Mission. Winners will be announced on Tuesday, Oct. 29.

Entry fees and a portion of the Wicked Donut’s Winning Recipe Donut sales will benefit HHOVV.

HHOVV is celebrating its 20th anniversary year.

Executive Pastry Chef Robert Teddy opened Wicked Donuts drive-thru last month at 9490 W. Lake Mead featuring his American fluffy donut infused with the buttery French brioche. Each yeast-raised donut is hand-crafted with the finest ingredients with no preservatives or artificial colors. Vegan, gluten- free and Keto friendly options are available. Wicked Donuts is set to open the main dining area in the Fall, as well as offer delivery options.

Established in 2000, HHOVV is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the mission to improve the quality of life for senior citizens and their families to maintain their dignity and independence. The new administrative offices for HHOVV are located at 3640 N 5th Street, Suite 130, North Las Vegas, NV 89032.
