Before Bobby Hauck conducts his first practice as UNLV’s new football coach, he will give the command to start the 14th running of the Sam’s Town 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Hauck, who was named head football coach of the Rebels in December, has been chosen as the grand marshal for the Feb. 27 event that will feature Danica Patrick’s first race at LVMS.
“It’s a thrill to be asked to be the grand marshal for the Sam’s Town 300 and to be a part of NASCAR’s weekend in Las Vegas,” Hauck said. “This is a great city for sporting events, and we’re looking forward to not only being a part of the race, but also the Las Vegas community.”
Hauck took over the reins of the UNLV football program after spending the past seven year as the head coach at Montana, where he compiled an 80-17 record and carried the Grizzlies to three NCAA Bowl Championship Division national championship games.
In addition to Patrick, the Sam’s Town 300 field is expected to include Las Vegas natives Kyle Busch and Brendan Gaughan and several other Sprint Cup Series regulars.
Tickets for the Sam’s Town 300, which will begin at 1:30 p.m., are available at www.lvms.com or by calling our ticket services office at 702-644-4444.
