A vigil honoring the lives of five Las Vegas cyclists who lost their lives in a tragic accident on Thursday, Dec. 10, is being held on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2020, at Las Vegas Cyclery (10575 Discovery Dr.).

The lives being honored include Aksoy Ahmet, 48, Michael Murray, 57, Gerrard Nieva, 41, Erin Ray, 39, and Tom Trauger, 57.

The event is being held outdoors from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. A virtual vigil will also be held at 3 p.m., broadcast from the parking lot of Las Vegas Cyclery. People can cycle or drive through to leave flowers, cards, or to make a donation to support the cyclists’ families.

Donations can also be made online at www.lasvegascyclistmemorial.com. Grief counselors from the Trauma Intervention Program will be available for anyone. For details, visit the event page on Facebook.

“When one cyclist gets hit, it’s a hit to our entire community,” says Heather Fisher, president of Save Red Rock. “The best way to honor our friends’ lives is to come together and make Las Vegas a safer place for cyclists. An accident like this can never happen again.”
