With a mission to empower, enrich, and educate underserved children to lead choice filled lives, local non-profit CORE treated 70 of its scholars and their families to its first-ever Drive-Thru Holiday Express. Delivering heaps of holiday cheer directly to the trunks of 70 pre-selected CORE student scholars, alumni and their families, CORE’s Drive-Thru Holiday Express enabled the organization to safely connect with each of its families and deliver all the supplies needed for a safe and merry holiday season.
The socially distant, family-focused event was structured in several drive-thru stations where families received: holiday cookie platters baked by local bakery Pastry Palace, decorative holiday wreaths from downtown florist Gaia, bundles of shelf-stable foods provided by Optimum Foods, family board games provided by United Education Institute (UEI), hoodies provided by Bell Uniforms and Mike and Lindsey Slanker, a $50 holiday gift card for each Scholar to the retailer on their Holiday Wish List, $50 grocery gift card, $25 Family Movie Night bundle including gift cards for pizza and a movie rental, toothbrush and toothpaste sets, fleece blankets, face masks, hand sanitizer, cleaning wipes, toilet paper, a home cleaning supply kit, and holiday cozy sock sets for the whole family. Even Santa showed up on a Harley to greet families and take photos.
“Each year CORE traditionally hosts an in-person holiday gathering for all of our Scholars and families to come together and celebrate the season,” said CORE Founder and Executive Director Lindsay Harper. “While we knew that we unfortunately couldn’t host an in-person event this year, we also knew that our community needed connectivity and support more than ever. So, our team came together and with the generosity of many supporters and sponsors, we were able to deliver holiday bundles filled with gifts and necessities for the season.”
