The Henderson Chamber of Commerce (HCCF) Foundation recently brought some holiday cheer to several families at S.A.F.E. House, a domestic violence shelter in Henderson. Through generous donations and the support of the Vegas Golden Knights, 28 families were adopted from the shelter and nearly $10,000 was used to buy items on each family’s wish lists. Families received toys, games, household items, clothing and gift cards.
“This year has been particularly challenging for everyone. We are thankful for those in the community who despite difficulties, were able to still give and selflessly assist those who need it the most,” said Kelly Green, executive director, HCCF. “Giving has truly been the definition of ‘community’ and compassion as we celebrate the holidays amid the pandemic.”
The S.A.F.E. House holiday adoption initiative was part of the HCCF’s Community Cares program that regularly hosts events and donation drives to support local organizations such as ALS Association Nevada Chapter, Henderson Libraries, Salvation Army, Spread the Word, and United Blood Services.
