The group, made up by the Mejía Avante brothers, recently released a new duet with Natalia Lafourcade titled “Nunca es suficiente.” This new single follows the successful release of “Ni contigo ni sin ti,” a duet with Pepe Aguilar which is also part of their upcoming album, Esto sí es Cumbia.

Esto si es Cumbia is the follow up to the album De Plaza in Plaza, which was recorded in Mérida, Yucatán in March of 2016 and released in September of 2016. The album still tops the charts and was certified Double Platinum, with more than 120,000 copies sold.

Los Ángeles Azules continue with the immense success that has accompanied them since the release of their Double Diamond certified album, Como te voy a olvidar in 2013, which has sold over 600,000 copies. The album has remained in the Top 20 of the Amprofon sales chart for more than 150 weeks.

The group was recently invited to perform at Coachella, the most renowned musical festival in the world, which has hosted artists such as Björk, Oasis, Radiohead, Paul McCartney and Guns N ‘Roses, among others.

2017 was a historic year for this group, originally from Iztapalapa. The scope of their music intensified and they toured over 150 shows with sold-out shows throughout Mexico, Central America, Bolivia and the United States. Los Ángeles Azules put to dance more than 14,000 attendees who gathered at one of the most emblematic venues in Los Angeles, Calif. – the Hollywood Bowl. Accompanied by the Philharmonic Orchestra of Los Angeles, Los Ángeles Azules demonstrated that they are the most important cumbia group not only in Mexico, but beyond borders.

The Mejía Avante brothers were part of the #EstamosUnidosMexicanos concert, held at the CDMX Zócalo to raise the spirits of Mexicans after the September 19th earthquake, which greatly affected the Iztapalapa area, where they live.

As part of the De Plaza in Plaza tour, the symphonic cumbia performed at the Auditorio Nacional six times with record breaking sold-outs, and three full-house shows at the M Pavilion in Monterrey.

Last year, the Palacio de los Deportes witnessed the dance that Los Ángeles Azules detonated during a sold-out show. The group is preparing to perform again on June 8.

During the 16th edition of Las Lunas del Auditorio in 2017, which recognizes the best of music and entertainment nationally and internationally, Los Ángeles Azules won the award for Afro-American Music for the fourth consecutive year.

During their last event of 2017, at El Angel de la Independencia they welcomed the New Year (2018) in front of over 60,000 people.

This year, the group has already performed in front of thousands in Mexico, the United States, El Salvador, and Guatemala. They are preparing to take their tour to Costa Rica and Nicaragua, and will return to the U.S. to participate at the Ruido Fest in Chicago, among other additional dates.
