Downtown Las Vegas is celebrating the life of late Zappos.com CEO Tony Hsieh this Saturday.

Zappos.com, DTP Companies, and the city of Las Vegas are teaming up to honor 48th Hsieh’s birthday, which would have been on Dec. 12.

NY Times #1 best-selling author Keith Ferrazzi will host the launch of the Tony Hsieh Award, which will feature a series of short inspirational talks featuring special guests and entertainers, starting at 11:30 a.m.

The launch will stream live at TheTonyHsiehAward.com.

Beginning at 5:30 p.m., the Downtown Container Park will host “Wake Up the Night,” a free public event that will feature an art car showcase, live music, and a midnight toast.

There will also be an invite-only event to mark the renaming of the Zappos Council Chambers to “Tony Hsieh Theater.”

Hsieh is remembered for his revitalization efforts in the downtown Las Vegas area, including moving Zappos’ corporate headquarters to the former city hall building Las Vegas Boulevard and Stewart Avenue.

The former CEO and entrepreneur died from complications of smoke inhalation following a house fire at a Connecticut home he was staying at last November.
