8,000 Clark County Students to Attend “Walking With Dinosaurs – The Arena Spectacular”

Walking With Dinosaurs - The Arena Spectacular
The Public Education Foundation and the Thomas & Mack Center will present a private matinee of Walking With Dinosaurs – The Arena Spectacular for more than 8,000 Clark County students on March 25.  Attending the matinee are Vanderburg Elementary’s Anthony Veltri and Hyde Park Middle School’s Jerry Tan and Joseph Cheung and their classmates. As the winners of the Foundation’s district-wide essay contest, these three students received free tickets for their class.

As the official sponsor of the “Walking With Dinosaurs” tour in Las Vegas, The Public Education Foundation arranged for discounted tickets and bus transportation for the more than 8,000 students and their teachers to attend the exclusive matinee due to financial support from corporate sponsors and private donors. Major corporate sponsors include Target, NV Energy, Sam’s Club and Walmart. Additional financial support was provided by Balfour, Barrick North America, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, University of Phoenix, Shuffle Master, Lark McCarthy & Dr. Michael Thomas, CashAmerica SuperPawn and Tropical Smoothie Café.

This year’s show features 17 roaring, snarling “live” dinosaurs in a spectacular theatrical arena show at the Thomas & Mack Center. To support the unique educational value of this show, the Foundation sponsored an essay contest and a study guide was distributed to schools for teachers to use as a resource when studying dinosaurs, or illustrating some concepts of biological science. Through the combination of curriculum and an interactive field-trip, the Foundation believes students will gain greater proficiency in the area of science and garner an understanding in robotics due to the state-of-the-art animatronics within the production. This is the second time The Public Education Foundation has partnered with UNLV and the Thomas & Mack Center to bring the show to Las Vegas.
