Rick Martinez, known on the comedy circuit as Mr. “Spicy Latino Nights,” was born in the Bronx, New York but moved to Las Vegas for his senior year of high school. It was in Las Vegas that he heard about a contest called the “#1 fool in Vegas” which he entered, took second place and fell in love with making other people laugh. Martinez moved to Los Angeles in 2002 where he ran the circuit performing at a variety of local comedy clubs, including the legendary Hollywood Improv where he developed his “Spicy Latino Nights” material.
In addition to his stand-up comedy, Martinez had a role in the movie Lean like a Cholo based on the song with the same name. He has appeared in the film Up Against the Eight Ball, which was included in a variety of film festivals, including the New York Film Festival and was also part of VH1’s When Comics Ruled the World.
