Nevada Ballet Theatre is pleased to announce that Las Vegas headliners, “Zowie Bowie” will be the musical entertainment at this year’s Black & White Ball Honoring Bette Midler on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Caesars Palace Las Vegas. In addition, members of Nevada Ballet Theatre’s professional company will also perform in tribute to Midler.
As headliners at the Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa in Las Vegas, Zowie Bowie is one of the most popular nightclub acts in the country. With a unique blend of today’s hottest dance, Top 40 and classic Las Vegas music, Zowie Bowie features the musical talent and unbridled energy of Chris Phillips and Marley Taylor.
In addition to fabulous entertainment, one of the live auction items for this year’s event will be the Cartier Himalia pearl necklace. This gorgeous piece features a dark and intoxicating pearl from Tahiti and a white freshwater pearl set in 18-carat white gold with diamonds.
Since 1985, The Black & White Ball has been a societal main stay in the city of glitz and glamour. Honoring legendary females who have positively impacted the performing arts, this annual fundraiser supports the state’s largest professional ballet company.
Past honorees of The Black & White Ball read like a who’s who of legendary women. Since 2001, Nevada Ballet Theatre has honored Debbie Reynolds (2001), Chita Rivera (2002), Carol Channing (2003) Celine Dion (2004), Ann-Margret (2005), Rita Rudner (2006), Paula Abdul (2007) and most recently, Twyla Tharp (2008).
Proceeds from the evening will allow Nevada Ballet Theatre to continue to provide main stage productions by its professional company, quality dance training within its affiliated school, the Academy of Nevada Ballet Theatre, as well as through its Education and Outreach program, Future Dance.
