An accomplished author and a well-known TV personality will top the marquee at the 4th Annual Women of Color Conference to be held August 15-16, 2010 at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.
About 500 women and men of all races and ethnicities are expected to attend the annual forum for professional development and networking.
“This conference is designed to provide the tools and support needed to help individuals take their careers to the next level,” said Debra Nelson, MGM Resorts Vice President of Corporate Diversity and Community Affairs, and Conference Chair. “Within just four years, this event has become recognized for the quality of its speakers and presentation, and for being an important source of inspiration and aspiration.”
In addition to workshops and leadership lectures, for the first time this year the conference will feature a Career Center, where participants can obtain professional advice from training and development experts and career coaches. Also debuting this year is a 5K Mentor Walk to promote the value of exercise and physical fitness.
The conference is open to the public and limited space remains available for registration. The registration fee for participants is $125. The reduced registration fee rate for students is $75. Day-of-event registration is $150. The registration fee includes access to the full conference including workshops, lectures and the Career Center, the 5K Mentor Walk and the Empowering Our Future Luncheon. Some of this year’s Women of Color conference speakers include:
Glenda Hatchett, Author and star of TV’s “Judge Hatchett” – Hatchett’s presentation, “Am I My Sister’s Keeper?” will focus on the importance of building networks and support systems to help achieve success. Hatchett is a former senior attorney of Delta Airlines where she also supervised crisis management and public relations for the company’s operations in the U.S., Europe and Asia. Additionally, as chief presiding judge of a state court in Georgia, she was responsible for administering one of the largest juvenile court systems in the U.S.
Marshawn Evans, Author & President, ME Unlimited – Evans is an entertainment attorney who manages professional athletes. Her recent book is titled: “SKIRTS In the Board Room.” She will offer strategies for success that she used during her journey through law school, to starring on Donald Trump’s “The Apprentice” to the halls of corporate America.
The conference is hosted by the Asian, Urban, Latin, and Women’s Chambers of Commerce in Nevada.
