Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada Announce 2011 Travel Opportunities

The Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada travel program is now accepting applications for its 2011 national and international destinations including India, Alaska, Savannah, GA, and Carson City, NV.
“These amazing journeys will open girls’ eyes to a lifetime of possibilities,” said Kelle Boteilho, Chief Operating Officer, Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada. “They will always have the memories of trying something different, meeting new friends and discovering the world around them.”
Capital Caravan takes girls on a road trip from Las Vegas to Carson City with visits to Virginia City, Tonopah, and Rhyolite to explore Nevada history and politics with planned stops at Nevada Supreme Court, Legislature, Nevada State Museum and Mint, and a tour of University of Nevada Reno campus with an alumna from Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada. Travel begins April 16 and cost is $100.
- 99 Years of Girl Scouting – Savannah 2011 brings girls back in time to the birth place of Girl Scout founder Juliette Low. The trip includes tours of historic downtown Savannah and costal Georgia with sea kayaking, a dolphin cruise and more. Travel is June 20–28, 2011 and costs $1,700.
- Discover Yourself While You Discover India – provides girls with an international perspective as they explore the traditions of Indian culture from food, dance, music, art, and fashion in Mumbai, New Delhi and more. Travel is July 5–27, 2011 and costs $3,750.
- Alaskan Adventure – Summer 2011 will have girls exploring Alaska, the last frontier including white water rafting on the Denali River, Kantishna wilderness, Whittier Glacier, and deep sea fishing for halibut and salmon in Seward. Travel is July 19–29, 2011 and costs $2,000.
Travel opportunities are open for registered members of Girl Scouts ages 11 to 18 years old, and some trips have further age restrictions. Membership is $12 annually. The early deadline to apply for travel opportunities is December 1.
