Las Vegas Prepares for 2011 Miss Nevada USA Pageant

Nevada’s most beautiful women will come together for the 2011 Miss Nevada USA & Miss Nevada Teen USA Pageant at the Horn Theater on the campus of the College of Southern Nevada Sun., Nov. 14, at 1:30 p.m.

Hosted by 8 News Now Anchor/Reporter Chris Saldaña and Miss Nevada USA 2009 Georgina Vaughan, the 2011 pageant will welcome 23 contestants in the Miss competition and 8 contestants in the Teen competition from all across Nevada participating in interview, swimsuit and evening wear competitions.

“We’re very excited for another great year for the Miss Nevada USA Organization,” said Maureen Atwell, executive director for the Miss Nevada USA Organization. “This day is going to make two young women very happy, and start them on a whirlwind of experiences representing Nevada on the path to the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants.”

The 2011 Miss Nevada USA winner will represent Nevada and the Miss Universe organization in numerous appearances, interviews and events throughout the year culminating with the 60th Annual Miss USA 2011 competition held at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The 2011 Miss Nevada Teen USA winner, although similar to her Miss Nevada USA counterpart, will make more teen-appropriate appearances and interviews, while acting as a positive role model for the youth of Nevada. Her reign will culminate with the 29th Annual Miss Teen USA 2010.

Ten volunteer judges from various career disciplines will score the competitors based on beauty, grace, poise and communication skills; five judges for the Miss Nevada USA competitors, while the remaining five will judge the Miss Nevada Teen USA participants. Based on individual criteria, the judges will chose their Top 8 in each category for the Miss Nevada USA title, then the Top 5 is selected and finally the Top 5 are ranked from Fourth Runner Up to the winner of Miss Nevada USA. Certified Public Accountants from PG Business Growth Advisors will volunteer their time and expertise to tally all the judges’ votes, and declare the two winners.

“We’ve got some great, beautiful and smart young women competing and any of them could walk off the stage as the new Miss Nevada USA or Miss Nevada Teen USA,” said Atwell “They will not only act as positive role models for the youth of Nevada, but also have the potential of becoming the next Miss USA and Miss Teen USA, reaching a national and international audience. It’s sure to be a very exciting night!”

The pageant will also welcome special guests including former title holders Miss Nevada Teen USA 2010 Audrey Denison and Miss Nevada USA 2010 Julianna Erdesz, who will help crown the new winners.

In addition to the crown winners, one contestant from each pageant will be awarded the Miss Congeniality award and the Miss Photogenic award. Miss Congeniality is selected by all participating contestants based on her exceptional personality and positive attitude. Miss Photogenic will recognize the young woman who best displays the beauty and grace of the competition with her pageant photos.

Atwell expects a sold out crowd and recommends arriving early to get a good seat. Tickets are available for $25 at the door.
