The ‘Hot N Cold’ video was shot in Los Angeles in early September. It premiered at MySpace on October 1, 2008. The video was added to iTunes on October 10, 2008.
The music video begins at a wedding, as the vows are said between Katy and her soon-to-be husband Alexander on the video. However, he backs out, and the song is performed as Katy chases him across town and mentally abuses him. The song ends with Katy standing over the groom with a zebra standing beside her, and revealing that the groom had been imagining the consequences of saying no. He accepts, and the video ends with the two running down the aisle to a cheering, crowded church.
Throughout the entire video, Katy is seen in a variety of different outfits, referencing the first lyric of the song. A Jack Nicholson look-alike makes an appearance in the video. As of January 29, 2009, the song has received more than 32 million views on YouTube.
