Cricket to Give Away 250 Turkeys to Locals at The University Plaza Cricket Thanksgiving Festival

Cricket Communications, Inc, a leading provider of unlimited wireless services, will host a Thanksgiving festival and turkey giveaway in support of Las Vegas families on Tuesday, November 23 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the University Plaza store, 1131 E. Tropicana at Maryland Parkway. This festival is free to the public, regardless if you are a Cricket subscriber, with fun for the entire family.

The first 250 in attendance will receive a complimentary frozen turkey (ranging from 12-16 lbs.) with insulated reusable grocery bag. The next 50 families to arrive will receive the same insulated reusable grocery bag stuffed with Thanksgiving meal trimmings such as stuffing, corn bread mix and cranberry sauce.

In celebration of the turkey giveaway, Cricket is turning its parking lot into a Thanksgiving festival that will entertain the whole family. Each person to enter gets four complimentary tickets that can be redeemed for variety of fun interactive carnival games; bounce house activity, pony rides or complimentary food items such as popcorn and cotton candy. All are welcome to come out and have some fun in the spirit of the holiday. The Turkey giveaway is free to anyone at the festival, but will be offered for the first 250 families in line.

“Las Vegas is a close-knit community and Cricket is committed to helping Las Vegas families,” said Mary Jones, Area General Manager of Cricket. “It’s even more important right now with all the recent struggles Las Vegas has been through. This turkey giveaway will make it possible for 250 families to have a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner, so we’re really excited to do this and give back to our local community,” she said.

In addition, Cricket will be donating 10 turkeys to the local chapter of Candlelighters – Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada. Candlelighters is a non-profit organization that makes sure that no child or family has to fight this disease alone. Chartered in 1978, Candelighters was founded by two families, each of whom had a child being treated for cancer Since that time, Candlelighters has assisted over 2,000 families.
