A celebration of Chinese culture is set for Monday, Feb. 21, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. inside The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort.
The high-energy evening celebrates the performing arts of the Chinese culture and includes performances from all categories of entertainment. Performances include, dance acts by Shanxi Province Song and Dance Theatre; songs by the Lees, A-bao, Buren Buyaer, the Central Ethnic Chorus and more; acrobatic acts showing thrilling stunting skills that are at the core of the Chinese ancient arts performed by various groups; martial art acts, drumming routines and more.
Some of the featured performances include, “Lovely Female Lead” stemming from the “female lead” role in Peking opera. Choreographed with the elements of Chinese folk dance and comedic character of the female lead, the stunting and entertaining skills of acrobatics are amazing. The selection won the French Republic President Award at the 26th Tomorrow Circus Festival in France in 2005. Other acts include a group of musicians from tribal descendants of Tibet, Manchu, Uygur, Mongolia and Chuang who will utilize different instrumentation to perform together.
Award-winning singer Sa Ding Ding will also participate in the show. Her album Alive won BBC Awards for World Music Asia/Pacific in 2008 and her songs feature lyrics she has written in Mandarin, Sanskrit, Tibetan and the near-extinct Lagu language, as well as an imaginary self-created language which she says is generated from the emotions evoked by the music.
