Aspiring Las Vegas Singer John-Philip Bowen to Sing National Anthem at Sam’s Town 300 March 5

John-Philip Bowen hopes to begin a new chapter in his singing career on Saturday, March 5 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Bowen, a Las Vegas resident and aspiring entertainer, won the recent FOX 5 TV Speedway Superstar competition and will sing the national anthem prior to the start of the Sam’s Town 300 NASCAR Nationwide Series race.

“This opportunity is incredible and I know this will be life-changing for me,” said Bowen. “I am looking forward to singing the national anthem in honor of the men and women who serve our nation so bravely. This is a dream come true and I am thrilled that I can share it with my friends and family all over the world.”

Bowen, a 30-year-old employee at Open Top Sightseeing Tours, has been singing in national performances for several years but will experience his first NASCAR race at LVMS on March 5.

Race sponsor Sam’s Town Hotel & Gambling Hall and FOX 5 TV staged an open audition to find a talent to sing the national anthem and chose Bowen out of more than 120 contestants.

“One night I was at home by the TV and the commercial for the Speedway Superstar competition came on,” said Bowen. “My full attention was immediately drawn to the screen. Having never performed on national TV and dreaming of being discovered, there was nothing more for me to do other than pencil in the audition in my calendar.”
