The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino celebrated the grand opening of the Hard Rock Poker Lounge this evening with a star-studded red carpet VIP poker tournament.While the exquisite room was the real star of the evening, attendees included pro poker players “the Godfather of poker” Doyle Brunson accompanied by Anjela and Pam Brunson, Chad Layne, Jeff Schulman, “Iceman” Teddy Monroe, Adam Schoenfeld, Jeremiah Smith, Barry Schulman, Kenny Goldstein and Rick Fuller.
Additional guests included Sam Talbot from Top Chef, Clinton Sparks and Sal Masekela of Daily 10, UFC Fighter Mike Swick, Scott Ian Rosenfeld of Anthrax, local celebrities Zowie Bowie, Nathan Burton and the cast of The Jersey Boys. The Poker Lounge was full of energy and the tournament lasted into the early morning hours.
The grand prize winner of the evening was Pam Brunson who was awarded a priceless Hard Rock Chopper motorcycle, a custom-made collector piece that has been a valuable part of the Hard Rock history since the property opened.
Earlier in the afternoon Honorable Mayor Oscar Goodman joined Hard Rock President Randy Kwasniewski and Doyle Brunson for a commemorative ribbon cutting ceremony.
Mayor Goodman was presented a custom-made tricycle for his grandson and he was delightfully surprised and grateful stating, “Only at the Hard Rock!”. His grandson celebrated his 5th birthday yesterday.
Over at Body English, the weekly Smashtime party drew in a crowd, and NBA star Jermaine O’Neal celebrated his birthday. Onlookers said O’Neal was friendly and said hello to everyone.
Just across the way, Chris Judd was spotted with two friends at the anti-club Wasted Space. They sat at a table and enjoyed Veruca Salt’s performance on stage.
