The flowers are blooming and if there’s one thing synonymous with spring, its Maibock brew. Hofbräuhaus Las Vegas is pleased to announce UFC fighter Frank Mir will tap the ceremonial first keg of Maibock beer on Friday, April 27th, at 7 p.m., bringing one of Munich’s oldest beers to Sin City for the seventh year in a row.
Born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, Mir began studying martial arts at his father’s karate club at the ripe age of 4. He has now grown up to be one of the most accomplished heavyweights in MMA history with a UFC Heavyweight Championship and UFC Interim Heavyweight Championship under his belt. Mir currently holds the record for most victories in the heavyweight division of the UFC with 14 wins and was ranked the #4 heavyweight in the world by ESPN as of January 2012.
“I’m looking forward to tapping the first keg of Maibock at Hofbräuhaus Las Vegas,” says Frank Mir. “As a Las Vegas native, I’m proud to join the list of legendary keg tappers.”
By tradition, the first barrel of Maibock is tapped at the Hofbräuhaus in the last week of April. Creamy and aromatic, Hofbräu Maibock sets the standard for all other bock beers and boasts the longest pedigree of all Munich’s bocks. Along with the keg tapping, the night will be filled with Jägermeister spankings and traditional stein-holding contests where competitors will have their chance to prove they have what it takes to hold out the one-liter filled stein the longest.
