The Irish Comedy Tour Brings its No-Holds-Barred Humor to Bonkerz
Bonkerz Comedy Club inside Palace Station presents three nights of the boisterous, belly-laugh trio, The Irish Comedy Tour, June 4 through 6.
The Irish Comedy Tour takes the party atmosphere of a Dublin pub and combines it with the clever wit of three comedians whose ancestors hail from the Emerald Isle. Detroit native Derek Richards gets audiences howling at the tales about his mom’s dog, the holidays and dating a stripper. He has appeared on “The Bob & Tom Show,” XM and Sirius radio and The Weather Channel’s “Top 10.” Boston-born Mike McCarthy’s no-holds-barred humor has landed him on Comedy Central and Showtime. The “comedy barbarian,” as he calls himself, takes no prisoners when it comes to poking fun at society’s most sensitive topics. Rounding out the trio is New Yorker Jim Paquette, who has fine-tuned his comedy chops across the country as a dueling piano performer. He opens the show by playing riotous original songs on his guitar that inspire audiences to clap along. Paquette has released two of his own comedy albums and his songs have been featured on radio stations across the country.
The irreverent trio, which just released a DVD titled “Dublin’ Over,” has performed at numerous venues across the country, including the 1,500-seat Dream Makers Theater at Kewadin Casino in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.; the 1,200-seat Sunrise Theatre in Fort Pierce, Fla.; and the 430-seat Erie Playhouse in Erie, Pa. They’re Irish, they’re American and they’re not holding back! Bonkerz Comedy Club presents five headliner shows weekly, with one on Thursday at 8 p.m. and two on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Tickets are $29.95 each. Palace Station hotel guests and locals with a valid Nevada ID receive a $10 discount. The club features a rotating schedule with a new headliner and feature act every week. Doors open one hour before showtime and guests must be 21 years and older.
