On Wednesday, celebrities and amateurs partnered with PGA TOUR professionals to compete in the MGM Resorts International Championship Pro Am (Pictured: Rollie Fingers, Goose Gossage, Hunter Woodhall, Ryan Palmer, Greg Maddux).
The celebrities and amateurs alike enjoyed the scenic views and great weather out at TPC Summerlin for a friendly round of golf including tournament host, Justin Timberlake, T Bone Burnett, George Lopez and PGA TOUR professional Nick Watney.
The tournament’s dream team including former Shriners Hospitals for Children patients Mike LaBrie and Katie Walker along with Dr. Stephen Grud teamed up with former UNLV alum and Las Vegas local, Charley Hoffman to take on participating foursomes. In addition, Shriners Hospitals for Children patient ambassador, Hunter Woodhall, received the unique opportunity to serve as standard bearer for MLB all-stars Rollie Fingers, Goose Gossage and Greg Maddux and their PGA TOUR partner, Ryan Palmer. Other notable participants included singers Chris Kirkpatrick and Josh Kelley, former NFL player and ESPN analyst Jason Taylor, former Governor of Nevada Bob Miller and Rossi Ralenkotter, president and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
To raise support for Shriners Hospitals for Children, five PGA TOUR pros put their putting skills to the test and took the Long Putt Challenge at the CenturyLink Prism Playground. James Driscoll, Ryuji Imada, David Mathis, Rod Pampling and Kevin Stadler stepped up to the putting green and for each putt made, CenturyLink donated $500 to Shriners Hospitals. Following a few practice swings, Stadler, the Reno, NV, native found the sweet spot and sank a putt. The interactive fan experience with CenturyLink has raised more than $5,500 for the hospitals today and attendees can continue to swing for charity at the Prism Playground throughout the week.
Joining the publisher of LasVegas.com, Donn Jersey, local executives from e-commerce, website development and interactive marking gathered in the Greenspun Media Pavilion this afternoon to hear from a panel on discovering the multifaceted benefits of social media. Speakers including Lynne Pisan, director of eCommerce at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Megan Tobin, director of internet marketing at MGM Resorts and others discussed how to utilize social media and incorporate into successful business plans.
At noon, four PGA Tour professionals dined with public safety officials inside the Shift4 Public Safety Appreciation Station. Former Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open champion Stuart Appleby along with Ricky Barnes, Bobby Gates, and Tom Pernice Jr. showed their support for members of metro, fire and rescue, highway patrol and others and thanked the courageous men and women for their hard work to keep the community safe every day. The group enjoyed lunch inside the venue overlooking TPC Summerlin and posed for photos with fans.
Following play, the Vegas Young Professionals held an evening affair at Club Ketel One in the Hill. Attendees mixed and mingled during the social networking event and enjoyed the views from the tournament’s hospitality venue.
