Wendy Liebman’s performance career started in the basement of her house at 110 Crescent Lane in Long Island, NY. She was born for the spotlight; growing up, she would put on various plays and productions for her family and friends. After graduating from Wellesley College with a degree in psychology, she naturally made the transition to stand up comedy. She started performing at clubs throughout Boston, then expanded to all of New England.

In 1990, Liebman won the Johnnie Walker Red Comedy Competition semi-finals in Boston, and competed in the finals at LA’s famous Hollywood Improv. It was at this performance that she caught the eye of the talent coordinator of The Tonight Show, who invited her to be one of Johnny Carson’s guests the following week. If that wasn’t thrilling enough, the whole episode was captured on a segment of CBS’ 48 hours. In 1996, Liebman was honored with the American Comedy Award for “Best Female Stand-up.”

Since then, Liebman has been a regular on The Late Show with David Letterman, and has appeared on The Tonight.Show with Jay Leno. Liebman has also been seen on Politically Incorrect, Dr Katz Professional Therapist, The Daily Show, HBO’s Women of the Night, Comic Relief Vll, Comic Strip Live, VH1 Stand-Up Spotlight, Evening at the Improv and MTV’s Half Hour Comedy Hour.

Liebman continues to tour across the country, performing at various comedy clubs, colleges, benefits and corporate events. She has paved the way for many female comedians in the male dominated industry. She was born to be in the spotlight, and will continue to be for many years to come.
